Today, I’d like to introduce a blissful soba dinner that warms both the heart and the stomach.
We visited a restaurant with a calm, refined atmosphere where you can enjoy seasonal ingredients, carefully crafted soba, and exquisite Kyoto duck shabu-shabu. Each dish is prepared with great care, and every time a plate is brought to the table, it’s so beautiful and inviting that you can’t help but sigh. It’s a place where you can savor truly luxurious moments, one dish at a time.

Artisan craftsmanship shines in the appetizer and sashimi.
The meal begins with beautifully presented starters and sashimi that are a feast for the eyes. On the plate are impeccably fresh sea bream and salmon, alongside roasted duck. A squeeze of the accompanying sudachi citrus brings out the natural sweetness of each ingredient even more.

And for soba lovers, an irresistible highlight: sobagaki.
Its fluffy, delicate texture is filled with a concentrated, robust aroma of buckwheat, followed by a gentle natural sweetness. Adding a small amount of salt to the wasabi alongside it creates yet another layer of flavor, allowing you to enjoy a completely different taste experience.

Light and crisp seasonal tempura.
Perfectly fried tempura is served with matcha salt. The shrimp are plump and juicy, the vegetables tender and fluffy, and the batter is astonishingly light. With each bite, the natural aroma and flavor of the ingredients spread across the palate.

Kyoto Duck Shabu-Shabu
At last, the main dish arrives: duck shabu-shabu.
Beautifully arranged slices of duck are presented alongside an impressively heaping mound of green onions.
The onions are added generously to the shimmering, aromatic dashi, and the duck is lightly swished through the broth. The rich fat of the duck paired with the crisp texture of the onions is simply irresistible. As you continue eating, the duck’s umami gradually melts into the broth, making it deeper and more flavorful with every moment. What emerges is nothing short of a blissful, soul-satisfying dashi.

Handmade Soba to Finish
The meal concludes with the long-awaited handmade soba.
These slender noodles glide smoothly down the throat, and with each bite, a refined buckwheat aroma gently rises through the nose. The true luxury lies in pairing the soba with a dipping sauce enriched by the umami of the duck shabu-shabu broth—a pleasure unique to this course and a perfect finale to an unforgettable meal.
